Nominee for Regionally-Elected Board Member
Dear members, It is an honor to submit my application to serve Region III as the Regionally-Elected member of the Board of Directors. Having recently served on the Board as a Presidential Appointee, I have firsthand experience and understanding of the position’s requirements and the characteristics of an effective Board member.
A Board member must be dedicated to the mission and goals of NCURA and have a thorough understanding of how NCURA’s components interact with one another, both at the regional and national levels. Over the past 11 years, I have served in numerous roles to support NCURA in advancing the profession through education and professional development programs, the sharing of knowledge and experiences, and the fostering a diverse, collegial, and respected global community.
In addition to having recently served on the Board, I was selected to NCURA’s Executive Leadership Program (ELP) in 2016. The ELP is designed to bring together members who are ready for executive leadership roles at the national level and train them in executive leadership principles, including recognized best practices of volunteer leadership. At the regional level, I have also served on our Executive Committee, both as Secretary from 2014-2015 and as a Chair Appointed member in 2016.
Upon joining NCURA in 2009, I immediately engaged and served on my first Spring Meeting Program Committee in 2011. Since that time, I have been sharing knowledge with my fellow research administrators by serving on seven Program Committees to develop the best conferences possible. Additionally, I have presented or published nearly 50 times at the conferences over the past decade.
I have also served on a variety of committees that make NCURA Region III such a special organization. These committees include New Members, Membership and Awards, and Nominations and Elections. I have also served on committees at the national level, such as Education Scholarship Fund (as Chair), Professional Development, NCURA Magazine, and Research Program.
I would be grateful to further serve NCURA and our Region III membership by being selected to as your Regionally-Elected member of the NCURA Board of Directors.
