Nominee for Region III Secretary
Director of Research Administration, Virginia Commonwealth University
I am incredibly honored to have been nominated for the position of Secretary for NCURA Region III. NCURA has been such a huge part of my career in Research Administration, and I firmly believe this organization plays a key role in my growth and development over the past few years.
I have been fortunate enough to attend both Regional and National NCURA conferences, as well as traveling workshops focused on both pre-award/financial administration and Senior Leadership Development. NCURA helped me recognize what an amazing career opportunity the field of Research Administration is, and the more NCURA colleagues I connect with, the more energized I become.
I feel so grateful and so lucky to be part of the family that is NCURA. I’ve never felt like NCURA was a competition between its members; instead, NCURA has shown me what true commitment to sharing information and growing and developing others really looks like! It was through NCURA that I was able to develop a passion for and commitment to presenting and training. Another NCURA member reached out to me, gave me a chance to shine, and now I want to be able to do that for others. Recently, I attended the Region III conference in Savannah, and I was moved to tears when another member shared that the conference was her first professional development opportunity in over 15 years of research administration work. She was so happy and motivated by the work we were all doing TOGETHER – and for me, that’s what it is all about in life. When we work as a team, reach out our hands to our friends and colleagues in the field, and are open and willing to do our best while working TOGETHER, I honestly don’t think anything can stop us!
I would cherish the opportunity to give back to this fabulous organization that has given me so very much, and I would be honored to have your vote.
